New in Claned: ESCO Skills
Boards can now be tagged with skills from ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations), the European Commission’s multilingual skills classification. ESCO provides a common framework for describing skills and learning outcomes across education and the world of work.
Course creators
Add ESCO skills in the Skills section when creating or editing a board.
Search the ESCO catalogue and select the skills your course develops. Selected skills can be edited or removed at any time.
Only users with permission to edit the board can modify skills.
When copying a board, skills are intentionally not copied, allowing each course to define its own learning outcomes.
For boards that issue certificates, the EARNEDSKILLS placeholder is automatically populated with the selected skills.
Learners
Skills appear in the board description in the board Overview tab and link to their official ESCO descriptions.
Use the new Skills search to discover courses by competency.
Search suggestions include only skills currently used within your organization, ensuring every selection returns relevant learning content.
Earned skills are also displayed in My Certificates, making it easier to review and share acquired competencies.
Why ESCO?
Using a common skills framework makes learning outcomes easier to discover, recognize and communicate across courses, organizations and labor markets. It also helps learners, educators and employers describe skills in a consistent and transparent way.
This feature also lays the foundation for richer skills-based learning, helping organizations connect learning, demonstrated competencies and recognized achievements.
This service uses the ESCO classification of the European Commission.

Enable Skills
The skills feature is disabled by default, but can be enabled for the entire organization by an organization admin from the Admin Panel's Settings page.
