Creating and editing modules

Divide a board's contents into subsections.

Claned boards are subdivided into “modules”. These are a way to organize your learning content into thematic, time-based or other logical structures.

Think of modules as a table of contents. Modules provide an overview of what is to come and are therefore an important element that supports the learning process.

Adjusting modules

1. Locate and click the module's 3-dot icon, and select “Edit” from the menu

All new boards contain a single module by default, simply titled "Module".

2. Once you select "Edit" a side panel will appear, allowing you to change the module's name and give it a description

  • Give the module an informative title.

  • Add a description of the module. You can add learning goals, write an overview of the module, and give instructions.

3. Editing module visibility

Under “Module visibility” there are 3 options:

  • Published – The module and its content is visible and accessible to learners

  • Scheduled – The module will be hidden until, or starting at, a specified date & time

  • Hidden – The module and its content is hidden and inaccessible to learners

4. Manage module specific user permissions

  • Allow users to add content to this module – Makes the module collaborative, meaning learners can add content to it such as assignments for peer review.

  • Collaborative modules are marked by the text "Sharing allowed" in the module's title row

Adding more modules

6. Click on "Add module" to create additional modules

  • Give the module a name, description and edit its settings as explained in the previous steps in this article.

  • Modules get added in sequential order, meaning newly created ones will appear on top of the existing modules.

7. To change the order, click on “Rearrange modules”

  • A compressed list of existing modules will appear at the top of the Content page

  • To move them around, simply drag and drop the title of the chosen module to its desired position in the list.

  • Click on "Rearrange modules" again to hide the module list.
